Montana Dept. of Agriculture declares crisis exemption for use of Quadris fungicide

May 15, 2000

On May 15, 2000, in communication with Dan Sullivan, Barbara Madden gave approval for the Montana Department of Agriculture to declare a Crisis Exemption for the use of azoxystrobin (Quadris fungicide, EPA Reg No. 10182-415) for the conrtol of Rhizoctonia Crown and Root Rot in sugar beets grown in Montana.

The season has sufficiently advanced in Montana so sugar beet growers have requested that the Department issue a crisis exemption.

On February 29, 2000, the Montana Department of Agriculture in a joint submission with the states of Wyoming and Colorado applied for a specific exemption under Section 18 of FIFRA for this use.  Use of Quadris will follow the provisions proposed in the Section 18 application.  Please refer to this submission for information on use pattern, expected residues and risk information.  The crisis exemption will be effective on May 16, 2000.  The latest expected use date is June 30, 2000.  The earliest anticipated harvest date is September 15, 2000.
