The last of 13 members of a cleanup crew were released from
a hospital Saturday where they had been treated for an
illness that struck while they worked at a sugar-beet plant
in Renville, Minn., last week.
Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar, Minn., said the four
were released in good condition. The workers, employed by
VEIT Environmental of Rogers, Minn., were admitted with
breathing problems and fever that struck after cleaning
condenser tubes at the Southwest Minnesota Beet Sugar
Cooperative.
The crew, which began work at the co-op on Sunday and
began feeling ill on Tuesday.
The Minnesota Department of Health is investigating.
Officials said that work on the condenser tubes has been
suspended until they find the cause of the illnesses. |
