SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. (AP) - A four-state group of sugar beet
growers is close to signing a letter of intent to buy six Western Sugar
factories owned by Tate & Lyle, the group's legal counsel said.
Randon Wilson of the Rocky Mountain Sugar Beet Growers Association said
the factories are in Billings, Mont., and Lovell, Wyo.; Scottsbluff and
Bayard in Nebraska and Fort Morgan and Greeley in Colorado.
Farmers in Nebraska, Wyoming, Colorado and Montana make up the growers
association.
The association's board will discuss the proposal and an announcement
could be made next week on signing of a letter of intent, Wilson said.
The company would like to close the purchase by the end of the year,
Wilson said, but it could take longer to finalize the deal. |
