The state's corn harvest is more than two-thirds complete, the Minnesota Agricultural Statistics Service said in its weekly crop weather report.

Harvest of other late-season crops is nearly complete, with the exception of sunflowers.

Fields have been dry and grain moisture low.

Sunny days, coupled with little or no rainfall in the southern two-thirds of the state, intensified the effects of continued low precipitation. Much of the state is too dry, the report said.

Soybean harvesting was 98 percent complete as of Sunday, compared with 84 percent at the same time last year and 79 percent for the five-year average. Corn is 68 percent harvested, compared with 42 percent a year ago and 38 percent for the five-year average.

About 86 percent of sugar beets are in, compared with last year's 94 percent and the five-year average of 70 percent. The sunflower harvest is 31 percent complete, compared with 32 percent a year ago and 43 percent for the five-year average.
