Crop insurance isn't Agridata's only business. The company
is in the process of developing software for hand-held computers that
would help in the control of noxious weeds.
Tentatively called GeoWeed, it allows weed control authorities to track
the effectiveness of their efforts. With a global positioning system
hooked to a computer, drivers of weed-control trucks would be able to map
out exactly which areas have been sprayed with herbicide. Factors such as
wind speed, wind direction, temperature and types of chemicals can be
entered, as well.
Agridata is working with the Grand Forks County Week Board to perfect
the program. |
