ST. LOUIS -- The Environmental Protection Agency has
approved Monsanto Co.'s Far-Go herbicide to control wild oats in sugar
beets. Under the terms of EPA's registration, beet growers in 14 states
now can use Far-Go for wild oats control.
"Far-Go will be an especially valuable weed control option for
growers who plant both wheat and sugar beets," notes Monsanto
technical manager Paul Isakson. "Using Far-Go in a herbicide rotation
program can reduce the risk of wild oats developing resistance to
herbicides which are AC Case inhibitors."
The registration gives growers the flexibility to apply Far-Go either
in fall or spring. Both granular and liquid applications are permitted at
the same rate growers traditionally have used for Far-Go in wheat.
Under the terms of the registration, the Far-Go in sugar beets is
approved in Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada,
North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington and Wyoming. For
details, growers should consult their Monsanto dealer or representative. |
