MEXICO CITY, Feb 15,
2001 (Reforma/Infolatina via COMTEX) -- Mexico's Comptroller General has
reopened an investigation into allegedly fraudulent export certificates
submitted by leading sugar company Consorcio Azucarero Escorpion (Caze) in
order to qualify for government marketing assistance, according to a
report in Mexico City daily Reforma. Last year, members of the National
Alcohol and Sugar Industries Chamber lodged a complaint with authorities
regarding Caze's alleged used of fraudulent export certificates. The
renewed investigation is still in an early stage, Reforma business
columnist Dario Celis Estrada reported. |
