MOORHEAD, Minn. -- American Crystal Sugar
Company says this year's sugar beet harvest will start Aug.
30.
The harvest will start in the Drayton, N.D. area, and then
progress to other parts of the Red River Valley.
Officials say that the staggered start-up is due to an
effort last spring to move production out of wet areas where
planting was delayed and into drier areas.
A spokesperson for the Minn-Dak Farmers Cooperative says
that it will start its fall sugar beet campaign Sept. 10. |
