Be especially careful during beet harvest

Every fall about this time the Red River Valley sugar beet harvest cranks up and roads and highways get a little more dangerous.

Piled-high beet trucks will be moving 24 hours a day for a while. Drivers putting in long hours can get tired. Impatient motorists can get irritated by the additional traffic. The combination can cause accidents.

The advice given year after year is the same this year: Motorists should take the sugar beet harvest into account when traveling on valley roadways. Beet truck drivers must realize they are sharing the roads and should be especially careful.
