CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - The Wyoming sugarbeet harvest is
behind schedule but in full swing with farmers completing one-third of the
harvest by the end of last week, the Wyoming Agricultural Statistics
Service said.
By this time, the sugarbeet harvest should be nearly half complete.
Still, about two-thirds of the sugarbeet crop is rated good or
excellent, the service reported.
Corn had reached maturity on 95 percent of the acreage, and about 14
percent of the crop had been harvested.
Low nighttime temperatures should help speed the progress of the corn
harvest.
Meantime, much of the state reported moisture last week, although most
areas reported less than half an inch. Soil moisture is still rated very
short or short in 81 percent of the state. |
