The annual MonDak Ag Days and Trade Show will be in Sidney Jan. 11-12.

Linda Casey is the chairperson of this year's organizational committee. Casey has been an active member of the Ag Days Committee for over 10 years and was chairperson for Ag in the Classroom in 1992 and has continued her involvement.

"Everyone works so hard. It doesn't seem right to call any one person the chairman," Casey said. "Everyone is ready to pitch in. The support for Ag Days is great."

Local businesses are being asked to provide support to defray the expense of speakers and entertainment.

"It's wonderful how people of the community pull together to make Ag Days so successful," Casey added.

Businesses and organizations have shown keen interest in the Trade Show as well. "The committee is discussing possibilities of expansion because so many people want a space and we're running out of room," Casey said. "We hate to turn anyone away. We're open to suggestions."

In addition to Ag in the Classroom at the Sidney High School AgEd Department coordinated by Gary Schaff and Lucy Lovec all day Friday, Jan. 11, and the traditional pancake breakfast Saturday morning, Jan. 12, at St. Matthew's and the Keith Steinbeisser Memorial Livestock Judging Contest from 9 am until noon Saturday at the Gartner-Denowh Angus Ranch, there will be many intersting speakers and topics.

Some of the subjects will be The Drought Outlook, Vegetable Oil and Alcohol as Fuel Substitutes and Developing a Wind Farm. The traditional tour stops have been replaced by computer power point presentations and this year's featured operation is D&D Theissen Herefords. This presentation will take place at 1 pm Saturday at St. Matthew's Center.

The weekend finale is the Ag Days Banquet which will be held Saturday, Jan. 12, at 6 pm at the Triangle Nite Club south of Sidney. In addition to a great meal of beef and lamb, entertainment will be provided by local recording artist Talina Tombre.

Casey said, "We've generally had performers come from out of town, but we felt like we wanted to support our local talent."

Tickets for the banquet are $10 and are available at the Richland County Extension Office, 7-S Ranch Supply, at the Trade Show, from committee members or at the door if still available.
